I use a pj pattern that I like and I overlap the front and back pieces on the side seam.this wil give u one piece for each leg and no side seam.

If u don't have a serger,#2 foot,has a wire on side and stitch # 3 on my 580. I usually just go thru the stitches until I find the one that uses that foot. It's usually in the first few stitches and every Bernina I have owned has that foot and stitch.i think it is called the overlock foot. See pg 22 in Feetures,Book 1.

Thank you! Feetures is one of my favorite resources so I don't know why I didn't think to look there. One page 16 of Volume 1, right hand column is a description and photo of the overlapped seam method I was trying to remember from my Bernina 930 instruction manual/workbook! It recommends the stretch overlock stitch with the #1 foot. It gives a very flat nicely finished seam and is easy to do, especially with some of the notions we have now, like washaway basting tape!
