I know the Bernina 1130 and 1230 models are not part of this list but I just

wondered whether anyone owns both and knows the difference between them,

i.e. what extras does the 1230 have over the 1130?

Many thanks for any feedback.

Kind regards

Josephine

Hi, I don't have a 1230, and my daughter has my 1130, which is a great

machine, but if you have a choice I would go with the 1230. It always gets

high marks from its owners, and I think it is a much more versatile machine

than the 1130, much as I loved mine.

---Links-Are-Forbidden--- 1120, 1130, 1230 comparison chart starts about 1/3 of the way down the page.

Josephine - I looked at the 1230 and bought the 1130 (way back when . . . ). If I remember correctly, the 1230 will do a straight-stitch alphabet and numbers, and possibly has a keyhole style buttonhole.

really appreciated it.

Hi Josephine,

I have a Bernina 1130 in my herd of sewing machines and I have compared it to the 1230 before: the 1230 has all the same stitches and features of the 1130, plus alphanumeric stitches.

I looked at the chart that reeter suggested. It has a lot of useful information, but it also has some errors. For one, the stitch width is actually the same on both machines, 5mm, while the chart says the 1130 goes up to 5.5mm. Definitely not true.

But, the bottom line is that I love the 1130 and I think you will too. And the 1230 is the same plus the alphanumeric stitches. So, you really can't go wrong with either machine.

Best of luck,

Rick

I really wondered about that too, when I read it. That was the first I had ever seen of that sizing.

Many thanks Rick. I should explain that I do already have a lovely 1130 but

my dealer is selling a 1230 so I just wondered whether anyone had an

experience of both of them to share.

I thought that was rather strange that the 1230's max stitch width was less

than the 1130's! Thank you for correcting that!

Many thanks again!

Kind regards

Josephine
