Hi all,

After sewing all afternoon today, and also yesterday, my 1130 stopped responding to the foot petal and stopped sewing. Foot is plugged in, light is on, just no response to foot petal. Turned off, waited about 10 minutes, turned on sewed normally for almost a half hour before stopping. There is some warmth but machine is not hot.Anyone have this experience?. And what was the outcome?

Any suggestions?. I am on vacation in TX and far far away from my dealer in MD.

Thanks,

Diane usually in MD

OH! Diane,My sweet 1130 is so wonderful and this has not happened..but I am wondering if the other plugs are securely in place, it is like it is not getting all the power, could there be something stuck around the foot petal? like a rug etc, so you are in Tx, well maybe a nice call to a shop will help, do not know the one that Sue used to work for, maybe some one can help with a shop near you..Joann

Yes, I had that happen (a few years back)and I took it to the dealer. He replaced something in the foot and it has been working very well.Sonja from WNY

Hey, I had that problem at a quilting retreat with the original 830 machine. There had been a recall on the foot pedal because of an electrical issue. I didn't get recall as my machine came from a pawn shop. I guess there had been some house fires due to a malfunction. So darling take it to your dealer and if it is warm put it outside where it can cool down and not cause a house fire.Barb

Thanks for everyone's replies!I have not had my 1130 repaired yet, but talked to my dealer in MD, and he said that the early 1130s had a bushing that would swell when hot and stop the machine from sewing. The bushing was replaced in later 1130s and tolerances increased. The bushing can be replaced. Of course my dealer cannot diagnose long distance, and the bushing suggestion was based on his experience when the 1130s were new.I have not had the 1130 serviced yet. 1130 is in TX, I am in MD. I was able to finish the quilt top that I was piecing by turning off my 1130 while cutting and pressing. It sewed beautifully. Maybe it was telling me to take more breaks from sewing :)Diane in MD
