I sew with the machine dropped down in a sewing cabinet and my surface is at 27.5. I am short and also use an adjustable chair without arms. Otherwise I am sure I would fall over them trying to get out of it to use the ironing board! I use my accessory boxes (I have 2 because I have a 440 and an Activa. The whole left side of both are full of feet, mostly different though some are the same for the two machines. Mine sit behind and right of the machine(s). I do extend the legs and they don't fall for me. One I have had for quite a few years as my Activa is a 135s. Because I pack up either one at a moments notice to go places I like having them ready because it is when I transfer stuff that I am sure to forget something I really need.

I have never liked the Bernina "Barbie" boxes. I broke the door off one of mine soon after I got it. I use the inexpensive flat craft boxes that have adjustable compartments. They are the type kids use for match box cars. My pressure feet fit in them perfectly with long spaces for markers, a small rule, and bobkin.

I agree...I think the Barbie boxes are bulky and poorly designed. I have all my feet in the plano fishing boxes that have red trim....takes up far less room and easy to put all of them in my Tutto when taking the machine out of the house. One of these days, I'm actually going to sell all my Barbie boxes as they just don't work for me. Leone in Arizona
