Is anyone working on this quilt, it.s on the Bernina website using the new

Christmas designs? I.m curious because I finished the 2nd row in the quilt,

and the Christmas and Yule appliques are too large to fit into the 3.5 x 6.5

finished size (after trimming) to allow for a . inch seam. I.ll have to

redo them and see if they.ll resize without any problem, I.ve not tried

resizing applique designs before.

Just curious if anyone else has run into this?

CJ, I have the designs, but have not started on the quilt. I played in the software just now and it looks as if you can resize with no problems. Use the black corner handles to resize. Check the Noel one, too. Looks like that one will need to be sized down, too.

yes ,I made this for a store sample ,without any instructions just the pictures,Much later I watched the webinar from Bernina on this collection and for many of my ? now have answers but there are mistakes. In the webinar she did the large center block with 3 hooping's in the jumbo hoop.I resized it to fit the large hoop.I also had to resize several other designs to fit the fabric size that was listed as background. In one of the rows u join the rows together and then do the embroidery, according to the webinar.I also did not use felt for the appliques, instead used a black batik and changed the open zig zag to a satin stitch .Liked mine much better.Since there were no templates for the appliques I used the software again to Delete all except the die line and mirrored imaged that to have a pattern to used with the fusible that I applied to the back of the black batik. The completed project looks good to me.It is different from the original but to do something with nothing much to go by except the pictures(the webinar lady stated the directions would be posted on Berninas website sometime soon)I am pleased with the results.

Yes I did resize several of them in the software

Thanks! Silly question. there's no difference in using the black corner

handles to resize, or going into properties and resizing, as long as both

numbers are resized equally correct? Never quite understood that.

Yes, there are directions on both the Bernina USA site and the OESD site, in .pdf format.

What was the name of the webinar? I must have missed that one.

Thanks for the heads up and information, Bette. I don't plan to use felt either, so I guess I'll be playing with the designs in the software to get what I want/need. I think I'll create an outline of the finished size for each embroidered block. That will give me a guideline for resizing. Thanks again!

Well...I'm not so sure about that. When many of us were having problems with underlay stitches reversing, one of the Bernina Educators (can't remember who) suggested we use the handles to resize and this would keep the stitches in place. I've sorta gotten into the habit of using the handles because of that. However, since these are Art Grade A designs, we aren't supposed to have the stitch reversing problem.

Hi All, The quilt for 2011 Christmas Collection 1 is called Yuletide Magic

Quilt. There is also a Magic in the Air wall hanging. I had difficulty

finding them, too, as I kept checking under quilting classes. It is under

Embroidery Classes. Here is the link.

---Links-Are-Forbidden--- webinar is called Tis the Season for holiday Embroidery, and it is still

available to watch on the Bernina home page/

I have a lot of designs that say to change size by using black corner

handles.

Yes, I.ve seen that too, I just assumed it was to make sure it was resized equally in all directions. Apparently not!

I went to the Bernina website and registered to view this webinar, but it said I was missing a codec -- I don't know that that is nor how to determine which codec I need.. Do I download something first?. Is there something on Bernina's website I need to download first?. Thanks

#79271 Oct 10, 2011

I hope someone can help me with this codec problem -- I don't know what it is so I can't view the Silhouettes webinar

I can't help because I did it too long ago and don't remember, but there is lots of information on the Forum here:
