For those of you who have both, which do you prefer and why? I just purchased the 39 for my 200/730 and moving the needle to the 4 position, I got a nice 1/4", but do you like the longer front that is on the 34? Curious minds want to know! She told me not to use the 57 foot because it will ruin the feed dogs...does anyone have the 57C and is it wider to avoid the feed dogs?

There isn't a 57C. For the obvious reason that it's a straight stitch

foot so there's no need for the ability to stitch 9mm wide. I don't know

of anyone who has ever reported damage to the feed dog from the use of

57. If there was it's an inexpensive part to replace, although the labor

might not be. ;-)

I don't notice much difference between using 34C or 39C, even though as

you noted the toes are a smidge longer on the 34C. The main difference

to me is the 34C makes piecing overlapping seamed pieces a bit easier as

the toes are raised a bit higher.
