Hi All! I have a new 430 and am wondering what all I would need to do to make it into an embroidery machine? What do I need to buy? What kind of software or even computer is needed? What kind of designs work on my machine? Does my machine need any special adjustments, etc... I am totally new to the world of embroidery, so all comments and tips are welcome. Thanks so much!

You need an embroidery module and ec on pc. The computer has to be attached to the sewing machine at all times as the 430 doesn't have a built in embroidery computer. This is just basic, there's all kinds of stuff that you're going to want, but download some free embroidery designs and try it out. If you don't have the embroidery module yet, go to your dealer and try it out first and see how you will like it. If you don't have one of the more expensive embroidery programs, just the basics, your embroidery files will need to be art format as that's all that ArtLink will open.

hope this helps,

Yes, you can, but remember ArtLink will only open up ART designs, while

your V4 software can open multiple formats, but not any more current

than art V4. So, download ArtLink, but keep your V4 too.

Can I download it to a memory stick or CD.and then just use that when I want to sew one of the designs?. That way I would be sure not to overwrite the v4 software?

Jeannette,

I downloaded ArtLink and have E v.5. Artlink just sits on your desktop like

your V.4 software. You choose which to open when you embroider. Remember

that you won.t see all your designs in Artlink unless they are in ART.

Hi Allen

Am I right in supposing that I can download othr programs to open other formats. Currently using V5 on a Aurora. Will the machine recognise them? For some reason I thought it wsa like MACS and PCs needed the matching software for the hardware.

thanks

Okay, so I'm really, really new... what is 'ec on pc'? I understand that I need an embroidery module and some software. Is the software what you mean by 'ec'? Do you know the name of the software? And it was suggested that I download some designs, where do I go to do that? Is there a site that's free? Also, I understand there is a place to get discounted embroidery thread, anybody know where that is?> You need an embroidery module and ec on pc

EConPC stands for Embroidery Control on Personal Computer and it is the

brains behind the aurora embroidery. Aurora owners are required to have

a computer connected to their machine/module when they want to

embroider. EConPC is a part of the Art Design software that now comes

with the aurora embroidery models and is also a part of the free

download of ArtLinkV6 on the BerninaUSA website.

There are way too many places to list that offer free embroidery

designs! BerninaUSA always has a few up on their site so that might be a

good place to start. You can also watch (or go back through past group

posts) our own members' signature lines on their posts as many of them

are talented digitizers who will more than likely offer a free design or

two on their own personal websites. Our group doesn't allow advertising

so you won't see any specific ads, but these signature lines are allowed.

One of my all-time favorite design sites is Hatched in Africa and their

sister site, All Sorts. You can check them out via these two links:

You will never go wrong with anything from these two sites!

Hi Jeanette,

I'm not sure if econpc is included in the artlink v6, but it's worth a try to see. If my understanding is correct, artlink v6 is being included as the default software in the new machines to send embroidery designs to the machines. I used it successfully yesterday on my 200. Went to a friend's house and forgot my dongle so used the artlink to send a design to my machine.

Good luck,

Hi, Allen:

It's ArtDesign that's being included with the new embroidery systems, not Artlink. As I understand it, the major difference between the two is that Artlink works ONLY with ART format files while ArtDesign works with several different stitch formats in addition to ART. Also, our current version of ArtDesign does not recognize ART60 formatted files.

I am not Kari - but here you go

On the BerninaUSA webpage www.berninausa.com on the left panel click on the

following Products>Software>Artlink6 this takes you to the page with a

link to download the software. On the page on the right side there is

another panel and down the list click on Download. Let me know if you have

a problem. you can also try

---Links-Are-Forbidden--- - not sure it this

will work but it should. I know that the above directions will get you to

the correct page and might help you to understand how to find things on the

website. They do not make it easy to understand - but not sure they could

do it better with all that is on the website.

Hi Fiona,

If you have V5D , it will open just about any format that you have. That's what I use on my 200. But yes you can use more programs than the Bernina software to edit and open files on your computer. You will still need something that you can send the files to your bernina machine such as the Artlink, but the files need to be in art format in order for artlink to open them.

With the D . I can open any format and hit send to machine and the software converts it to the format that the machine needs in order for it to be able to read it.

I know that a lot of people use something besides bernina software to digitize their designs. Save it in exp format and most of the bernina machines will read that. I'm not sure of the aroura's, but I'm sure someone else will know for sure.

Sorry I can't be more help,

Thanks Jean!

This is my one long day a month when I teach back to back to back

sessions of my Software Skill Builders sessions. Today has been so busy

that I am just now checking in (before the last session begins) to see

if there is anything urgent that can't wait until I get home tonight

about 11:00. Appreciate you stepping in and sending the directions to

find ArtLinkV6.
