Hi Liz,I spent a lot of time at the Bernina booth at Houston last year. I wanted to try the 580 and the 750 and talk to the rep. I fell in love with the 750. Those lights and harp space were amazing. The rep wrote up a sales proposal for both. The price was a bit discounted, but not as much as I thought it would be. I was so nervous to talk about it with hubby. That night he said, did you see anything you wanted? Little did he know! The next morning I got an email from our local Bernina dealer that said they would beat any price given at the quilt show by $500 and they did just that. Plus I didn't have to wait weeks, I got it that morning.I would recommend doing the same thing. Try out the models at the festival, the sales ladies were so helpful. Then see if you can get a better price with your local dealer.Sandy :)PS The Houston International Quilt Festival is just awesome!

Thank you to all of you for your help. I will try out the 580 and the 750/780 and make my decision. The local Bernina dealer will give me a good trade in value for my 730 but the amount depends on which machine I buy.

I will be going to the Houston Quilt show for the first time this year. Doesn't Bernina usually give a show special prices at these shows? Of course if I do that, I will loose the local training..........

Lots to think about :).

Liz

Hi Liz,I have owned my Bernia 910 for many years, and had great fun with it. Now I am upgrading to the 700 series -- serious looking at the 750 QE. I was considering the 780 but the reviews were not great. What are your thoughts on the 750?Thanks for your reply,Jasmine

I love my 780. .I think the reviews are great. .I chose it over the 750 because it comes with the embroidery unit as well as multi directional sewing. .I love the 580 too. .I feel they make a perfect pair of big and little sister and just wish I had more time to enjoy them.
