.Good morning,

I have a friend with a 440 with the embroideryunit. I am not sure what version embroidery software she has but can getnothing to work on her Windows 8 laptop. Am I correct in assumingthere is a driver to be downloaded from Bernina that will solve theproblem? I know I have read about this on this list, but of course itdidn't apply to me so I didn't take much notice!!! I told her Iwould ask the experts! If we can sort it out ourselves, so much thebetter, as the Bernina shop where she needs to go to is 3 hours away. I amsure you girls in the US understand about that!

Any help you can give will be very muchappreciated. Thank you!Dorothy in Stratford, NewZealand

You know if she cannot get it to install on Windows 8 try setting up hypervisor and see if she can get windows 7 loaded. I don't know if it comes with windows 8 though

Kari,I have a friend with the same problem. Does this replace or add to the ADX Support Package 2012? Thanks,Joy

ADX has to do with the software program that sends the design. The other (what I posted earlier) is so the computer recognizesthe machine/module is attached. ADX stands for artista dataexchange.

Kari,We installed the Artlink Version 6.0F and then the ADX Support Package 2012 on my friend's Windows 8.1 computer. We were able to connect and stitch out several times on the 440 with no problems. We did not install the other software CDX2.08.24 because the instructions did not match what we saw on the device manager in control panel. There was no option to update drivers or change ports. So is the last item only necessary if we are not able to get the connectionand should I just leave it alone? This lady loves EConPC because she has low vision and can see things so much better on the computer screen and the ability to zoom in on the design on thelarger screenis great for her. She is just thrilled as she had been having problems for a long time. Thank you SO much for your help!Joy

Yes, that would be my take on the situation. If your computercan see the aurora, there's no need for anything else. Yes, beingable to use your computer screen was one of the aurora's claims tofame. Glad it's all working for her!

.Thank you Kari,

Is this the link that will enable the computer tosee the embroidery programme?Sorry if I seem a bitdense!Unfortunately I am going to be in the same boatsoon as I have to get a new computer. It will have Windows 7 on it so Ihope I can get it all sorted. I will keep the laptop on XP so that the V5,which I have, will work on that but it is out in the sewing roompermanently.

The link should take you to the drivers possibly needed so themachine itself is recognized as being connected to the computer.
