-Happy New Year to one and all!

My name is Marie Grace. Buffalo, New York has been my residence for

the past 19 years, but I was born in Brooklyn, and lived "downstate"

until I was 30. I still consider myself to be a native New Yorker.

I have been addicted to beading for over 3 years now. I truly believe

there is no cure for this addiction and I am NOT looking for one. LOL

I've tried all sorts of crafts, but this one is the best!

I began with stringing and have recently took a huge liking to bead

weaving techniques. Unfortunately, I think I spend most of my time

reading about beads, talking about beads, looking at beads, organizing

my beads, and buying more beads then I will ever really use. On

occasion, I actually get some bead work done! LOL I have some favorite

pieces that I can post in the photos section if that is ok.

Like many of you out there, I would like to market my pieces, but

cannot stay focused on the work involved in doing so. I have sold

many pieces at shows, etc, but would also like to have a web site. My

New Year's resolution is to stay more focused on one thing at a time,

but I don't really see that happening. :)

I have been teaching jewelry making classes at the local bead shop and

at H.S. Adult Education for over 2 1/2 years. I love meeting other

women who love to bead.

Thank you for inviting me to be part of your wonderful group.

Marie;)

Hi!!! My name is Denise (I go by Uma-a spiritual name my yoga teacher of 11 years has given me). I live in Texas currently, but am from SanDiego, CA, and looking into moving into Oregon (not sure where). I have been beading for a few years, and I like these long bead ties that have seed beads (like 6 strands) that go into bigger beads (to be just one strand) at regular intervals. I have a 2 year old daughter who helps me decide how I should spend most of my time and energy....so you probably won't see too much of me.

I'm glad you're all here!

Peace,

Uma

Hi everyone,

I have just joined your group and am astonished at the flow of email! 15 or more per day... pshaw! I joined yesterday and there are 75 in my folder already! Sounds like a fun group to be a part of.

My name is Cathy Doyle and I am from Collingwood, in Ontario, Canada. Beautiful weather we're having here finally!

I bought some beads to make jewelry in the fall/winter but never got around to doing anything with them. I am a quilter, I also paint with acrylics, and I sew clothes, home dec stuff occasionally, etc. I'll tell you how I got interested in beading. I made a wallhanging a few years ago to test a pattern for an online quilting friend. It was a chicken quilt with hens and chicks on it and I used some seed beads as chickenfeed on the quilt. People really liked that.

More recently, I found a neat bustier wall quilt pattern in a magazine! So cute... so I now have at least 18 bustier quilt blocks started and more prints bought... lots of trims and a few beads. I began to add some coppery seed beads (leftovers from the chickenfeed) to a ribbon trim that already has small white beads down the center, to add colour and interest. Then I wanted to do more with beads on these bustiers but I really have NO CLUE! I think this group will give me ideas... and probably help with techniques as well.

So far, I really haven't made much, so I guess my favorite piece would be the wallhanging, but I'm sure these quilt blocks will be my favorites once they're done.

Thank you to the moderators for the welcome,

Cathy

Hi; my name is Miriam, 48 years young and am from the Philippines.

2. How long have you been beading and what mediums do you prefer? I am

trying to learn how to bead .

I love beads since I was young though I never really worked on any projects involving purely beads. I did cross stitch, specialty stitches and hardanger. I would embellish my work with beads and decals.

Last december an old classmate (living in australia) taught our batch wire crochet and bead stringing. My passion for beading was revitalized. So here I am.... starting to bead.

Just my simple bracelets and my 3x redone crocheted wire necklace with still needs some parts to finish.

I find this group very informative and inspiring!

Hi my name is Melinda (I go by Charlie). I grew up in Washington State. I'm

newly married (3.5 years). My husband's home and family are in Albuquerque.

Most of my family (including my husband and I) presently reside in WA. We

are both retired and travel in an RV to and from WA & NM regularly to visit

our family and friends.

I've been beading on and off again since 2002. I love working with

Swarovski, precious and semi-precious stones. I use SS, and Yellow gold in

most of my work. I love designing and making jewelry. It takes me to a

peaceful place with no stress. I make each piece unique and special for each

person. Someday I would like to look into metal clay sculpting.

What is my favorite piece? I've given most of my favorites away to family

and friends over the years and don't have many pictures. I have attached

three pictures of pieces I made that are among my favorites. Sorry for the

display. Not sure how to layout my work to get the best pix.

Cheers,

Charlie
