Okie doke so I have a question. I'm planning on, well, hoping to experiment with some projects I have in my head. And while I am "only" experimenting, I'd still like it to be wearable and last a very long time, in case it turns out well. What I want to do is sew on felt as a backing to my design but I wonder does felt hold up well over time or should I just stick to something like ultrasuede? I think that's what I've heard of people using often.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Take care,

April

Thanks Karin! Do I have to get it online? I tried searching it on the sites for Michaels and Joann's and they didn't seem to have it in stores.

Take care,

I'm not sure how felt would hold up, but it's awfully thick. I use

ultrasuede for an actual backing of a bead embroidery project, but I do the

actual beadwork on a medium pellon. The thin of that is too thin and it

also has thick versions. I like the medium because then it's not so heavy,

but it also holds the beads really well. Then I sew on the ultrasuede when

the beading is done and bead up the edges, put on a clasp or elastic or

velcro and good to go! You can also get the pellon in black as well as

white, so depending on your project, pick one where if some happens to show

through that it is not too obvious.

Hope that helps!

Hugs!

Karin

Unfortunately, the Walmarts out here got rid of their sewing departments. :-(

Take care,

You can find the Pelon at the Walmart sewing department!
