---Links-Are-Forbidden--- anyone made this bracelet? I'm having trouble understanding the instructions in step 2. How many beads wide is this? It says that eight beads = the first row plus HALF of the second row. I had expected the eight beads to be rows 1 & 2.

That pattern is strictly flat peyote. Changing the bead sizes is what gives it the bubble effect, start with smallest size bead, then increase one size bead every few rows, then reverse going down one size at a time every few rows.

Hi,

..

This is an Even Count Flat Peyote Bracelet. It is..a "Bumps in the Road" bracelet. I have made several of these for family and friends. The bracelet I made is 10 beads wide. The pattern I followed used size 11 seed beads, size 8 seed beads, and size 6 seed beads. You work 8 rows of the size 11 seed beads, work 4 rows with size 8 seed beads, 1 row of size 6 seed beads, 4 rows of size 8 seed beads, and 8 rows of size 11 seed beads to make one complete section. To get the bumps you need to keep your thread snug while you stitch. Then you repeat the sequence until your bracelet is the length you need. The bracelet looks the best if you end it with a complete section. To adjust the length you can reduce or increase the number of rows where the size 11 beads are used. For example: To make the bracelet fit my Daughter I.. would work 6 rows of size 11s instead of 8.

Hi Carolyn,

"Bumps in the Road", good name. I didn't see your "Bumps in the Road" bracelet in the albums or on your blog. Would love to see what colors you have chosen. Do you have any difficulty having the bumps stand up? I know it is my tension. Some of my bumps are 3d and some are sort of lame. I'm hoping I can go back and reinforce to tighten up the stitching.

Hello Deborah,

..

When I made the Bumps in the Road bracelets I did not have a good camera for taking pictures. I did make two in all black; one with size 11 silver-lined green beads, size 8..silver-lined gold beads with size 6's in green (special request); one in iresdecent shades of brown, and one in shades of blue-violet to wear with jeans.

..

You do need to pull the beading thread tight as you stitch and it helps to use your thumb on your non-stitching hand..to push the bump up as you stitch.

..

I used the slide lock clasp on the bracelets I made.
