What is with some of you people?

DCC control and MRR in general is a very diverse hobby, and each of us

indulges our interests differently.

As a newer member Lou showed us his idea for train control based on his

interests and abilities. He obviously likes the challenge of

hardware/software automation and has the skills and access to the products

to build something unique. So what do some of you do? You jump down his

throat! Over the last year or so the Owners/Moderators have seen this as a

growing trend, and I'm getting very tired of it.

Such diversity should be encouraged, and I applaud Lou's efforts and

successes in the way he has approached the hobby. As a steam-era guy who

wants no automation at all on my layout I wouldn't choose this route, but

kudo's to those people who do want it and find ways to do so.

Every month each group member is sent "The 10 Commandments of Email", which

is how the Admin staff here want to group to be run. The last item reads:

"That which thou findest hateful to receive, sendest thou not unto

others." I don't want to see any more sniping. If you have thoughts of

sending any such post it would be far better to just use your Delete key and

say nothing.

If you think a thread is trying to commercialize a product or service,

notify the Moderating staff and WE will look into it.

Lou,

If it is not for sale or actually part of digitrax, it is better to leave it off this list. It is interesting but almost all of us don't have the money to buy the equipment to build your system . Point blank..we..were never really interested in what you have. It is too far ahead of what we now run with and a dare say we are all happy with what we have.

Yes, well said. The ones who complained were the ones who kept the thread going by responding negatively. If I am not interested in a thread I just ignore it but I save all of them for searching in case my interests change in the future.

Don't get discouraged, Lou. Much of the stuff done for those of us that sit in the cheap seats started in a Sky Box somewhere.

I think that part of the issue was the typical reaction to a New Guy with what would appear to be Big Changes. You have some intriguing ideas that many would like to see more of, but a more development oriented group such as the JMRI developers or Open LCB yahoo groups might be worth looking into.

Model Railroading is truly a great collection of hobbies and there is room for all of our creative juices to flow.

Alan,

What gives you the authority to speak for the group?.. Are you a moderator?.. It's up to the list owner or a moderator to tell someone to take their post elsewhere, not you... I liked reading about it... You may not have the money and it may be too advanced for you but there are others on this list that may feel differently.....

What does the list owner/moderator have to say?

Sincerely,

greybear

Greybear,

I'm just viocing my opinion. We need to get back to what this list is for Digitrax.. nothing else. I'm not a moderator, just trying to help them out, besides they don't spend all day on the list like some people do.

.................. Thanks,

If I was a moderator.. most of the posts would not make the list.

Thanks, Greybear.

Maybe Alan didn't read my post closely enough. Since I am a group Co-owner/

Moderator and I have already given my "thumbs-up" on this thread he can

start doing as I suggested... use the Delete Key.

Lou is using Digitrax equipment controlled with custom hardware and

software. I can guarantee there are many folks on this list who would be

interested in seeing what can be done.

Now, if the thread starts getting into the true nuts & bolts and

line-by-line code then there are other venues to discuss that.

Chris,

Please take my appology. I did not want the nuts and bolts. Thats why I said what I did. I don't use digitrax that much. My brother.. instals decoders in HO locos for our neighborhood Hobby shop. Yes I have 1 that I can walk to when I need something. I'm on this list so I can ask questions he has trouble with. What I did not like was Lou's cross threading. I have answered many of his questions off of this list and the manuals that no one reads.

Chris,

Read some of the other comments on this thread. It seems he made more than 1 post on the same subject that at least one other member questioned him about. It only takes 1 post to get a subject line going . if we are interested (we ) will respond. Don't keep pounding it in our faces. He made at least 5 Posts about what it can do and can't do. WE did not need that much info. An off line reply is all he needed.

I'm on another group that is under complete moderation for this same thing .Delete key will be used from now on
