This Bulletin contains the summary schedule for our activities during

Convention Week in Fort Lauderdale. Detailed information can be found on our

web site at ---Links-Are-Forbidden--- night gathering - July 14, 7:00 pm RPM Room

Our initial get-together will be the opening Sunday night of convention week.

We are planning an informal gathering to allow people to give a 3-5 minute

snippet of their own layout. This way we can begin to put faces with the

layouts we read about on the LD SIG mail list and in the Layout Design

Journal. Hopefully some of the Wednesday layout tour owners will make the

trip to describe what we will see during our tour.

Wednesday layout tours - July 17

Our traditional visit to significant layouts in the convention city area will

again be on Wednesday; but breaking from tradition we will tour from

midmorning until late afternoon principally to avoid the rush hour traffic

mess in the Fort Lauderdale/Miami area. Bob Leonard has selected the

following layouts for our review. Maps to these layouts will be available at

the LD SIG Registration Desk Tuesday afternoon. There is a possibility that

the maps will include the GPS coordinates for each layout. Sign up for car

pools will be at the Registration Desk in the SIG Room.

Friday night banquet - July 19

After a busy week at the convention we will hopefully provide you a fine

dining experience for your relaxation and an opportunity to discuss of all

the events of the week and make plans for next year. The LD SIG banquet will

be on Friday night at the Fort Lauderdale Marina Marriott in the Stranahan

Room. The menu selections are as follows:

Chicken Breast Forestiere (Medallions of Seared Chicken Breasts, Creamy Wild

Mushroom Cognac Sauce), Strip Loin Au Poivre (Roasted Strip Loin rubbed with

Black Pepper), and Seared Salmon Amandine (Saut..ed Norwegian Salmon Encrusted

in Sliced Almonds Lemon Herb Sauce). Our salad will be an Autumn Salad (Fresh

Field Greens, Tossed with Dried Apples and Walnuts, Raspberry Vinaigrette),

and the desert will be Key Lime Torte (Fresh Florida Limes in a Light Citrus

Cream).

Banquet reservation cutoff is TUESDAY late afternoon per the Marina Marriott

contract. So register EARLY!!!

Sunday Calvin Winter's layout tour - July 21 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Calvin Winters Key West Extension

This layout has been set as a separate day from our normal Wednesday tour day

because of the prior commitments of the owner and in consideration to the

importance of the concept. So please, if you are interested, plan your flight

schedule accordingly. Calvin's layout has been published in Model Railroader;

February 2001 page 60, as the Key West Extension.

LD SIG business meeting

The yearly LD SIG Business Meeting will be held during the week, most likely

on Thursday. Check the LD SIG room for an announcement of the date and time

of this meeting.

Clinics

Numerous LD SIG members will be clinicians during the convention. Hearing

these specialists provides a great opportunity to see how others have

incorporated LD SIG principals into their layouts.
