I've just had a look at the Scottish link and I have to say

its *impressive* to say the least. For those who like me

have taken lines back as far as most records will allow,

and parish records are now the only source, it has to be a

gift. I've thought and hoped for a long time that the WWW

had a purpose just such as this, for the development of \

understanding and knowledge; at last we are seeing the

results to that end.

I cannot help thinking that these groups that we belong to

are a smaller scale, sharing information willingly that we

have gleaned from our families as well as what we have

learned in our genealogy travels. In an even smaller way,

each and every one of us is providing an archive of record

and information for the benefit of our successors, children,

grandchildren, and so on down the line. It serves to show

what an asset it is to have a family. I get the feeling

that once there is so much information available to the

individual searcher it really wont be worth charging for it,

it will be elsewhere for free.
